The Saucony brand
Founded in the United States, Saucony is a historic brand specializing in running for both road and trail runners. It has established itself as a benchmark on the trails, thanks in particular to models such as the Peregrine!
Our complete test of the Saucony Peregrine 15 (Women’s)
Look
Yes, it’s all very subjective, but I’ll give you my opinion anyway: I love the look of the Peregrine 15! They’re sober and sporty, a little racy like road shoes can be (I’m thinking of the brand’s Kinvara, which I also love!). Even if, as is often the case, I prefer the colors of the men’s version, I like the yellow of mine.
These are shoes you could even consider wearing off-trail, as they don’t have the visual “heaviness” of some trail shoes.

Comfort
As for sizing, I took my usual size and it fits.
When you put them on, the Peregrine 15s are comfortable: the liner is soft, the upper rises a little without being too high, and they fit well without being too tight, which makes you want to go running in them right away! However, if you have wide feet, they may be a little narrow for you, as they are particularly snug-fitting .
On my first outings in these shoes, I rediscovered what I already liked about previous versions of the Peregrine: the fit hugs the foot well, the heel is pleasantly cushioned, there are no points of compression to report, and comfort is there for the taking. You’ll need to be a little careful, however, if you’re used to higher drops and more cushioning: go gradually!
A little plus, I also like the elastic loop that lets the laces slide in and out, preventing them from coming undone (no need for a double knot) or getting caught in twigs.

Weight
At 252g in women’s size 40.5, the Peregrine 15 is rather light, but still within the standard range (heavier than some more minimalist shoes, lighter than the Trabuco 13, for example).
Amortized and dynamic
As I mentioned earlier, this isn’t a shoe with a lot of cushioning: it’s more of a dynamic model. That said, I find the compromise particularly good.
Saucony’s PWRRUN midsole has been tweaked a little on this version 15 of the Peregrine, to provide a little more cushioning. You can feel it (slightly, mind you, it’s not a radical change!): the cushioning is rather firm without being stiff, and the shoe is responsive.
Don’t necessarily trust your sensations when you first wear them: it takes a few dozen kilometers for the cushioning to become a little softer.

Stability
Here’s one of the things I love about these Saucony Peregrine 15s: the stability is really excellent! This is undoubtedly due to several factors. First of all, the fit, as I often feel a little wide in the midfoot on some shoes, which is not the case with these, which fit perfectly.
But certainly also thanks to a sufficiently wide base, a sole that’s not too high, and lateral foot support that offers a little support without restricting freedom of movement: even on slopes or uneven terrain, the foot remains well positioned, offering real safety on technical trails.
Hook
The PWRTRAC outsole, with its 5 mm studs, offers outstanding grip on trails, whether the ground is dry, wet or even downright muddy. You’ll feel right at home in them, and you’ll be able to enjoy yourself downhill! Compared to previous versions, I also have the impression that the mud evacuates a little better. Be careful, though, on smooth, wet rocks, where it’s not optimal (it rarely is, but it’s less than with a Vibram sole).
All in all, they may be a bit oversized if you run on non-technical trails (you don’t need such big crampons), not necessarily ideal on very technical rocky trails, but top-notch on all trails in between, making them a very versatile shoe!

Protection
Protection is good, thanks to the many features provided. Firstly, the stone guard at the front of the foot, which seems solid and plays its role well. Then there are the reinforcement strips on the side of the foot and on the heel cup. This allows you to tackle uneven terrain with peace of mind and minimize the impact of stones and roots.

Conclusion
Once again, the Saucony Peregrine 15 is certainly one of the best trail shoes on the market! They’re perfect for trail runners looking for a versatile, low-drop shoe for short- to medium-distance outings over varied terrain.
