Our complete test of the Compressport Ultrun Evo 10 Pack trail bag
Design and weight
As soon as you pick up the Compressport Ultrun Evo 10 pack trail bag, you’re impressed by the lightness and finesse of the material, which is already very pleasant to the touch. At just 114g on our scales (in size S), this hydration pack is clearly one of the lightest on the market!
For my part, this encourages me to carry it with me almost all the time: I slip it into my suitcase even if I’ve only planned a few jogs, since I find it more comfortable than any belt without the extra bulk!
Design-wise, it’s still a very personal opinion, but I like the sober look of this bag, in black and white with the reflective Compressport logo on the back.

Fit and comfort
When you put them on, you hardly feel them at all, and I’ve even forgotten I was wearing them at times (getting into the car after a trail run, when I normally take my bag off before sitting down!). While I was initially worried that it would be too small, this is not the case: the stretch fabric adapts really well to the body and feels like a “second skin”.
The bag is adjustable thanks to its material, but also thanks to several elements:
- adjustable elastic strap under each arm
- a zig-zag elastic lace on the front, which you close with two hooks (this has been simplified on this new version, as there used to be lots of hooks and it seemed a bit confusing!) It takes a bit of time the 1st time to adjust it correctly, but once you’ve found the right setting, it’s great because you can adjust the tension very precisely. It’s also very quick to attach.
- slightly adhesive strips on the underside of the bag, on the back and on the sides

When you’re running, it’s a pleasant surprise to find that, despite the bag’s light weight, you can hardly feel it at all , and there’s no bounce to speak of. Depending on my outings, I tested it with a single flask, with both flasks, with the flasks half-filled, on different types of terrain, fully loaded or not loaded at all… There’s really nothing to say, it’s stable in any situation, provided you spread your load well (if you put everything in the front and nothing behind, it can be a bit noticeable). For me, who’s a bit obsessive about trail bag tossing, I’m really seduced!
Apparently, the flanges have been slightly tilted compared to the previous version of the Ultrun Evo 10 pack, to achieve this even greater stability, which would also allow a better opening of the ribcage.
As a woman, I must also admit that I was a little wary at first of the mixed side of this trail bag, as in my experience they’re generally not the most suitable for women, but I have to say I was blown away with this one: I felt immediately comfortable with it and have no floating zones, the bag fits my feminine morphology perfectly.
Another remarkable thing about this bag is its excellent breathability! Mind you, I’m not telling you that you’ll get away with a dry back (that’s not really possible!), but it’s still particularly effective compared to the many other trail bags I’ve already tested.

Organization
The Compressport Ultrun Evo 10 pack trail bag features 9 storage zones:
- 2 mesh flange compartments with elastics to hold them in place
- above the right-hand flange, a small zipped pocket for a key (and a whistle next to it)
- on top of the left flange, a small compartment for a gel or other product
- below each flange, a compartment for storing gloves, buffs, food or other items (with a hook for the right-hand one)
- on the left-hand side, over the compartment, a zipped pocket for storing the telephone
- in the lower back, two large superimposed pockets, partially closed with Velcro fasteners (at first I thought it was a through pocket, but it’s actually two superimposed compartments, one accessible from the right and the other from the left!)
- at the top of the back, a large pocket accessible from above and partially closed with a Velcro fastening
For my part, I find access to the pockets quite easy: I can easily grab whatever I want and I find the pockets rather well designed, even if the front pockets aren’t very big. However, if you’re carrying a lot of stuff, don’t hesitate to make good use of the rear pockets for gloves, buffs, etc., as the front pockets will quickly fill up with food.
I like the small zipped key pocket, which is handy for storing your key and taking your mind off it, as well as the phone pocket, which is big enough to hold my smartphone but small enough that it doesn’t swing around (yes, I told you it was an obsession!). Be careful with the smartphone, though, as the bag is so thin that the pressure of the phone on my ribs still causes me pain on long outings (the flip side of the fabric’s thinness, of course!). I advise you to place your buff, for example, in the bottom pocket for protection on longer outings.
The two stacked lower rear compartments are also well thought-out. Not only do they allow you to carry a lot of stuff (rain pants, etc.), but you can also grab a rain jacket without removing your trail bag, which you can also do with the pocket on the top of the back of this bag. That leaves plenty of personal options for bag organization!
Another piece of feedback that differs slightly from mine is that of Anne-Lise from the La Sportive Outdoor team, who also tested the bag (in the XS version) and found the front pockets a little small (her phone doesn’t fit in them!) and that it’s difficult to access the rear area… Anne-Lise also says her shoulders aren’t very supple, but I thought it would be interesting to give you this double feedback.

Hydration
The bag comes with two 500mL Compressport flasks. You have to insist a little to get them into the dedicated compartments once they’ve been filled (especially if the bag is fully loaded!), but they then settle in satisfactorily and are held in place by an elastic band.
My only regret is that the opening of these flasks is narrow: it’s always easier when the opening is wide when you have to fill your flasks at a refreshment station, or pour effort drink into them without getting it all over the place! Having tested the wide-opening flasks I have, the elastic doesn’t fit.

Pole carrying system
Two silicone-lined elastics on the back of each side of the trail bag are designed to accommodate poles. I really like this system. First of all, it’s easy to handle: even when you’re running, you can put on/remove your poles (you’ll need a bit of help, but it’s fine!). What’s more, the silicone inserts provide excellent pole stability. What’s more, they’re quite comfortable! I’m used to carrying my poles in a belt, so I won’t have to take it with me anymore.

Conclusion
The Compressport Ultrun Evo 10 Pack is an ultralight, highly technical and well thought-out trail bag. Its lightness, stability, comfort and numerous storage compartments make it a great companion for outings of varying lengths!
