Episode summary

How can a woman break down barriers in a male-dominated world, while inspiring future generations?

In this episode of “La Sportive Outdoor – Sport Outdoor au féminin”, Laurène Philippot welcomes Marion Poitevin, a true pioneer of mountaineering, notably being the first woman to join the Haute-Montagne military group. Through her story, Marion takes us on an exceptional journey, from her beginnings in Haute-Savoie to her current role as a CRS Montagne first-aider.

Marion doesn’t just share her successes; she also discusses the challenges she has had to overcome as a woman in a predominantly male environment. Her experience at GMHM is indicative of the obstacles women often face in male-dominated environments.

Marion is also behind the association “Lead the Climb”, which works to encourage women to take on leadership roles in the mountains. Through this initiative, she aims not only to change the perception of women in mountaineering, but also to create a network of support and inspiration. Listen to this episode to find out how Marion turned her challenges into opportunities, and how she’s encouraging other women to do the same!
