1. Cross three regions in one trip

La Vélobuissonnière is a 240 km itinerary linking Normandy, Sarthe and Anjou. A wide variety of landscapes in just a few days: Normandy bocages, the wooded hills of the Alpes Mancelles, the gentle countryside of the Sarthe, the lush green valleys of the Loir and Loire rivers… Not forgetting the majestic finish in Saumur, facing the Loire and its tuffeau castles. There’s something to discover on every stage!

2. An accessible route, even for beginners

Ranked among Europe’s top cycle routes, the Vélobuissonnière is ideal for a first cycling trip. The gradient is moderate (1670 m over the whole route), with only a few climbs in the Alpes Mancelles. In 4 to 6 days, depending on your pace, the route adapts to all profiles, with a majority of small, lightly traveled roads and a few stretches of greenway. Perfect for enjoying yourself without pressure.

3. Immerse yourself in a little-known but remarkable heritage

All along the V44, architectural and cultural nuggets follow one another. Alençon and its famous lace stitch, Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei and Fresnay-sur-Sarthe for their medieval charm, Le Mans and its Plantagenet town, Malicorne and its earthenware, Baugé-en-Anjou and its superb apothecary… La Vélobuissonnière is a compendium of little-known gems.

4. Travel light with the right logistics

In practical terms, the Vélobuissonnière is well signposted, with easy access to supplies (bakeries, restaurants, regular supermarkets), and a wide range of accommodation (campsites, gîtes, hotels, chambres d’hôtes with the Accueil Vélo label). You can also rent a bike in Beaumont-sur-Sarthe, and return transport is available by bus or TER (subject to conditions). This means you don’t have to worry too much about logistics, which is ideal when you’re just starting out!

5. A truly rejuvenating interlude

Little-traveled, peaceful, punctuated by bucolic landscapes and contemplative moments, La Vélobuissonnière lives up to its name. There’s no mass tourism here, just an immersion in a gentle, green and lively France. Perfect for reconnecting with yourself, with nature, and with a form of happy slowness. What more could you ask for?
