Comfort and ergonomics
Open Fit 2+ earphones are free-standing earphones that fit snugly around the ear, without ever entering the ear canal. The technical term used to describe this type of speaker is “air conduction transducer”.
The first thing you notice when you wear them is how light they are, making them completely invisible. Once in place, there’s no particular discomfort: no pressure on the ear, they’re quickly forgotten.
I’ve tested them on trail runs, split runs and even mountain biking, and the results are the same: the headphones stay in place and don’t move. They’re very comfortable to wear, and you don’t feel any discomfort, even after several hours. This is clearly one of their strong points.
Unlike the Shokz Open Run or Open Swim, there’s no “helmet” that goes around your head, which I really appreciate, especially in winter, because you can put on a headband or hat without any discomfort. They’re also perfectly compatible with sunglasses and bicycle helmets.

Sound and open listening
Up until now, I’ve been using Shokz Open Run headphones, with decent sound but clearly lagging behind in-ear headphones. With the OpenFit 2+, the gap is clear. The sound is balanced, clean and with good bass, an important point for me as I like to listen to music with excellent audio quality. And even if the listening experience remains open, the sound reproduction is more than adequate.
This improvement is largely due to DualBoost technology : there are two speakers per earpiece, one for bass, the other for treble. As a result, the sound is dynamic and well-detailed, without losing perception of the environment.
And that’s precisely where Shokz stays true to its philosophy: we keep this open-ear technology thatlets you stay connected to the outside world. On the trail, it’s a real plus for hearing footsteps behind you, the famous “gauuuuche” or “droiiiite” when someone overtakes! But also on the bike, to keep an eye out for cars.
Unfortunately, I haven’t yet been able to test the earphones on a road bike with a headwind, so I don’t yet have any feedback on sound quality in a windy environment.

Buttons
Controls are integrated directly into the earpieces via two slightly raised buttons. You can control music, calls or volume with single, double, triple or long clicks. By default, the touch zone is set up without controls, but you can authorize the voice assistant via the Shokz application.
I particularly like the raised buttons, as I can feel my clicks better and they work without hesitation. With other models, I often paused the music by mistake… here, the controls respond well, even when moving, and are reliable.

Autonomy and recharging
The headphones recharge directly in their case, which itself is powered by USB-C. Recharging is therefore simple and convenient thanks to a standard cable, with no specific Shokz cable, which is clearly a positive point. The Open Fit 2+ version is also compatible with wireless recharging.
As for autonomy, Shokz claims up to 11 hours of listening time on a single charge, and up to 48 hours in total with the case. I particularly appreciate this format, as it eliminates the need to constantly monitor battery levels.
Last but not least, the fast charge is well thought-out: 10 minutes are enough to recover around 2 hours of listening time.

Pairing
Pairing is easy and instantaneous. For a first connection, simply open the box and go to your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings: the headphones are immediately detected.
To re-pair, replace the earphones in the case, open it, then press and hold the case button for about 3 seconds. The OpenFit 2+ then automatically switches to connection mode.
The headphones also feature multipoint pairing, meaning you can connect 2 devices simultaneously. You can easily juggle between your phone and your computer or tablet without any additional handling. Rather useful if you use your headphones in everyday life, less useful during outdoor sports sessions!
Application
The Shokz application lets you manage the essentials:
- Sound settings
- Button customization
- Activation of multipoint coupling (simultaneous connection to two devices)
- Software updates
Nothing superfluous, but everything you’d expect is there.
Conclusion
For me, these headphones are a real success. They offer an intelligent compromise between comfort, safety, lightness and audio quality, and are ideal for both outdoor and indoor sportswomen, as well as those who just want to listen to music without isolating themselves.
